Betül Özkan
Betül Özkan (b. 1987, Balıkesir) develops material-oriented installations and sculptural forms through a direct engagement with traditional materials such as thread and wool. She approaches these materials not only through their physical properties, but also through the cultural and mnemonic layers they carry.
Rather than working within predetermined conceptual frameworks, Özkan’s artistic process evolves through an intuitive interaction with materials. Her works emerge as spatial wholes formed through the accumulation and interrelation of individual elements, shaped around notions of continuity, dissolution, and reconnection.
Özkan graduated from the Painting and Art Education Program at Selçuk University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education in 2011. She completed her master’s degree in the Department of Fine Arts Education at Necmettin Erbakan University, Institute of Educational Sciences, in 2016.
